With an engine capacity of 8586cc, this version of the 1929 lorry had an extra 15 horsepower taking it to 85 brake horsepower. Wheelbase was 201'' (5100 mm), unladen chassis weight 4 tons (4060 kg), and carrying capacity 6 tons (6100 kg).

The 1932 Mercedes L5 is a truck that could transport 5 tons of cargo. The L5 truck was built from 1926 to 1932.

The (Y41-1) 1932 Mercedes-Benz L5 Lorry was introduced in 1991 in the livery of the "Howaldtswerke" shipyard of Keil in Germany.

Total produced was 48,222

Comments/Features: The cab and body was painted a dark green and the cab had a grey plastic roof and seats.
The wings and running boards were painted black and the wheels were red plastic.
The baseplate was grey plastic and the load bed was brown plastic. The load itself was a ships engine block which was painted grey with a silver top.

The Howaldtswerke Mercedes shared a baseplate with the Stuttgarter Hofbrau Y6 Mercedes. Both models had Y6 inscribed on the baseplate.

Livery: (Tampo)
'HOWALDTSWERKE AG' and 'KIEL' in gold on both sides of lorry.
Company logo in gold and red on both cab doors.
Mercedes logo in matt chrome on black radiator grille.
The radiator shell is a separate component from the headlamps.

Variations/Rarities: The only variation is the finish of the radiator shell being either matt silver or bright chrome.

Interesting Facts: This firm was still in existence in 1991 and operated this type of lorry in the 1930's. Only black and white photographs existed of the firm's livery; but the colour scheme was selected after consulting the Howaldtswerke management.
